We work exclusively with architectural glass - houses, verandas, glazed terraces, offices and commercial premises. The film goes onto the existing glass from inside the room. Nothing is taken out, nothing has to be dismantled, and a typical detached house job starts and finishes in a single day. By the evening the room can be used as normal.

Baldone is a small town of detached houses set in wooded, hilly surroundings with scattered country properties around its edges. That changes both which films are most often needed here and how we plan the call-out.
Most houses here stand on generous plots among trees, and that creates the deceptive impression that the sun isn't a problem. In summer the leaf canopy really does shade. But the shade of deciduous trees is seasonal: from October to May there is none at all, and that is exactly the period when the sun sits low.
A low sun passes beneath the crowns of the trees. It doesn't hit the roof or the canopy - it comes almost horizontally in through the window. On a March or October afternoon that is the brightest glare of the whole year: you can't sit at a desk, you can't watch television, the kitchen worktop is one continuous reflection. People often assume the window is to blame, or that a new furniture layout hasn't worked, when the real cause is the angle of the sun.
The flip side of the same thing: where the trees are conifers, the shade lasts all year but is diffuse and uneven. Then the problem is not heat but contrast - dark forest in one window, a bright patch of sky in the next.
Film works regardless of the season or the leaf cover. That is precisely why, in houses with trees around them, solar control film usually makes a bigger difference than the owner expects - because they judge it by their summer impression, whereas the benefit comes in spring and autumn.
Baldone has a great many houses with a glazed section attached - an older-style wooden veranda, a modern glazed terrace or a conservatory. Technically this is the most demanding room in the whole house. There is glass in the walls and often in the roof as well, the volume of the space is small, and the ventilation is poor. On a summer afternoon it turns into a greenhouse.
Where the veranda is used as an extra room, the aim is to bring the temperature down enough that the space is usable in July too. In cases like these we are usually talking about heat rejection film, sometimes combined with a reflective option on the most strongly exposed sections.
In older buildings and houses with a historic character - Baldone has a spa-town past, and its imprint is still felt here and there in the local building stock - we always inspect the glazing before starting. Old, thin or irregularly sized glass, and wooden sashes with a deep rebate and narrow panes, have to be assessed on site. It is no obstacle, but it does affect the choice of film and how long the work takes.
If the glass is large and sits somewhere it could be knocked into by accident, the conversation usually turns to safety film as well, which holds the shards together if the unit does break.

Baldone lies in the southern part of Ķekava municipality, and the link to Riga runs along regional roads rather than by rail. In practice that means we plan the call-out around the driving time, and that the morning and evening peaks on the Riga side can shift the arrival time. So we always confirm the time the day before.
The service area here is more spread out than in the dense suburbs of Riga. Access in the town centre is straightforward, but at outlying properties the last kilometre can be gravel or narrow. We carry the materials and tools from the van, so it matters to us how close to the house we can drive.
In winter the weather doesn't interfere with the work itself - we apply the film from inside, and what counts is the indoor temperature, not the outdoor one. Only the road to the property matters. In summer the sole scheduling question is that working in a glazed terrace is more pleasant early in the morning than in the hottest part of the afternoon.
Parking at detached houses is rarely a problem. If the job is in a block of flats or a commercial building, a note in your enquiry about the floor and the lift is useful.
