The calculation itself is simple: the area of glass to be covered multiplied by the price per square metre. Working out the area correctly is the trickier part, so here are three typical examples with the full arithmetic.
An apartment in Purvciems, south-west facing, where the room overheats in the afternoon. Three identical windows, each 1.6 m wide and 1.7 m high. Solar control film chosen.
Around €204 excl. VAT in total. Comfortably above the minimum order, so the €75 threshold has no effect on the figure here. The job is a few hours' work for one installer.
An office in central Riga. A glass wall onto the corridor that needs privacy: 6 m long, 2.0 m high. Frosted film chosen.
€300 excl. VAT in total for frosted film, or €348 with a pattern. At this size the difference between the two options is €48, so the design choice is rarely decided by price.
A shop with two display windows, each 5 m wide and 2.0 m high. The job is both to protect the stock from fading and to hold the shards together if the glass is smashed. Reinforced safety film chosen.
€700 excl. VAT in total. Here the choice of thickness changes the figure by €200, so before deciding we talk through whether the site really needs the 8 mil grade.
Measure the glass, not the window frame. For each window, multiply the width of the visible glass by its height in metres and add all the windows together. If a window has several panes separated by a frame, each pane counts separately, because the film is cut individually for each one. Accuracy to a tenth of a metre is perfectly adequate for an initial estimate. If you get it wrong, we'll correct it when we measure.
For example: one kitchen window of 1.4 × 1.5 m and two bedroom windows of 1.2 × 1.5 m each. That is 2.1 + 1.8 + 1.8 = 5.7 m². At €25/m² that comes to €142.50 excl. VAT. That figure is close enough to tell you whether the solution fits your budget.
When a room is too hot, or a ground-floor flat has no privacy, the other possible solution is to change the glass or the whole window. Example 1 above makes a useful comparison: three windows, 8.16 m², film for €204. Replacing the same area with selective glazing units costs several times as much, requires dismantling work, takes longer and leaves building waste behind.
Film is not a substitute for new windows in every case. If the windows are worn out, draughty or no longer open, film will not fix that. But if the windows are in good working order and the only problems are heat, glare, ultraviolet radiation or being overlooked, film solves exactly those problems for a fraction of the cost of replacement.

No. Every figure on this price page is excl. VAT. For a private customer that means the final invoice will be higher by the VAT rate, and we always state this clearly in the quote so there are no surprises. For VAT-registered businesses the figure excluding VAT is usually the more convenient one to work with, which is why it is shown as the headline price.
The price covers both the film and the labour. That means the material, preparing and cleaning the glass, cutting the film to size, applying it, finishing the edges and tidying the work area afterwards. We do not charge separately for installation or for travel within the Riga city limits. On-site measuring before the work is free as well.
Because the real cost of a square metre varies from site to site. Ten square metres in one large shop window is a simpler job than the same ten square metres split across twenty small panes, each of which needs its own cut and creates more offcut waste. The price is also affected by the type of glass, the floor, access, and whether the windows open easily. That is why we give a final price after measuring.
Every visit involves travel, preparing materials and setting up tools, whether we are applying one square metre or ten. The €75 minimum order covers those costs. In practice it means that for a very small job it pays to combine several windows into one visit, because the additional square metres are charged simply at the square-metre rate.
The initial estimate based on the form is approximate, because it uses the area you have given us. After free on-site measuring we give a final price, and that is the price we work to. If measuring reveals that the actual area or the conditions differ significantly from what was originally described, we say so immediately and before the work starts - not on the invoice.
From €8/m². This is added to the price of the new film if there is already old film on the glass. The effort involved in removal varies enormously: relatively new film can often be pulled off in whole sheets, whereas old film that has baked in the sun tears into tiny pieces and the adhesive has to be removed separately. That is why we confirm the removal price once we have seen the condition of the film.
