What we do is simple and specific: we apply film to glass that is already fitted, solving one of three typical problems - people seeing into the room from outside, the room overheating in the sun, or light straining the eyes and throwing reflections onto a screen. On top of that we fit safety film that holds broken glass together, decorative film, and we remove old film that has reached the end of its life.
The windows are not taken out, the frames are not touched and there is no rubble. A typical flat's or house's set of windows is finished in a single day. The price includes both the film and the fitting - we do not issue separate invoices for materials and labour.

Iecava is a small Zemgale town in Bauska municipality with 5,286 residents, and its character is shaped largely by one thing: the A7, the Via Baltica, runs straight through it. The road connects the Riga and Ķekava direction with Bauska and Lithuania, and with it comes a constant stream of passing traffic. For buildings standing on this corridor or on the streets adjoining it, that creates two practical problems with glass.
The first is ground-floor privacy. When transit traffic passes all day long and people walk along the pavement just beyond the window, a ground-floor room by the road is effectively a shop window. In Iecava the usual answer is curtains that stay drawn day after day - and the daylight goes with them. Film changes that: frosted film lets the light in but not the view, and it works exactly the same by day and in the evening. If the privacy is mainly needed during daylight hours and the view out has to be preserved, mirror film is the better fit, appearing as a reflective surface from outside during the day.
The second is light and heat. On the Zemgale plain there are no slopes and no dense forest to cast shade, and the road-facing panes take full sun for most of the day. On a summer afternoon a room under the roof or a glazed veranda gets so hot that there is simply nothing to be done in it. Reflections add to the problem: light bounces off the road surface and off shiny surfaces on it, throwing moving, irritating glints onto the wall and the screen. Both of these are addressed by solar control film or a stronger heat rejection film, which reflects and absorbs part of the sun's energy at the glass, before it reaches the room.
Away from the main road, Iecava looks entirely different - a compact centre, a couple of blocks of apartment buildings, streets of detached houses, and beyond them farmland and the surroundings of the river Iecava. Here the problems are different: overheating on the south side, fading of furniture and parquet, and in places the need for greater glass safety where a building stands empty during the working day.
The bulk of the work. The most common jobs - a south or west-facing living room, a glazed veranda or a loft room that overheats in summer, and ground-floor windows where the house stands close to the street.
There are a few multi-storey buildings in the town centre. There the usual needs are privacy for a ground-floor flat and heat protection on the upper floors beneath the flat roof.
Small-scale retail and service premises in the centre and along the road. In shop windows the main need is to protect the stock from the sun and limit glare while keeping the display visible.
On production and agricultural sites, film goes on the office-wing windows and wherever the sun falls on a workstation or a machine's control panel.
Many people in Iecava work towards Riga or Bauska, and some from home. Reflections on the monitor in the afternoon are a classic complaint, and even a light solar control film solves it.
If a house or premises stands unoccupied for much of the day, safety film holds broken glass in the frame and makes getting in through a window far slower.

5. Fitting. One day for a typical property. Afterwards the film dries out over a few days - faint water streaks during that period are entirely normal and disappear on their own.
Iecava is one of the furthest points in our service area south of Riga. That does not change the price per square metre and it does not create a separate call-out charge, but it does change the planning: we do not simply drive out to Iecava for one small window.
In practice that means two things. First, the €75 minimum order has to be taken more seriously here than in central Riga. Second, if you combine several windows, do the house together with the workshop or agree a shared day with a neighbour, it works out cheaper per pane and the trip is easier to schedule.
Access in Iecava is not a problem in itself - there is usually space in the yard to unload materials, and the streets are wide. The only things we ask you to tell us in advance are the floor and whether the property is right on the main road: work beside the A7 is sometimes better scheduled for the morning, before the traffic is at its heaviest.

Solar control film or heat rejection film - from €25/m². For south and west-facing rooms, glazed verandas and loft floors that become unusable in summer. Significantly reduces incoming solar heat and brightness.
Mirror film - from €25/m². For when you need daytime privacy but want to keep the view out. Also works well on the windows of local premises facing a road or a car park.
UV protection film - from €25/m². Helps reduce the ultraviolet radiation that bleaches parquet, upholstery and goods on display in a shop. See UV protection film.
Safety film - from €25/m² (4 mil), from €35/m² (8 mil), from €41/m² (12 mil). Holds broken glass together. The thicker grades are usually chosen for commercial premises, the thinner ones for house windows and door panels.
Patterned decorative film - from €29/m². For glass partitions, doors and places where privacy has to look good as well. Logos, printed graphics and partitions are quoted individually.
Old film removal - from €8/m². If the glass already carries film that has reached the end of its life, cracked or faded to purple, we take it off and then fit the new one.

Against passers-by looking in on the ground floor, frosted or blackout film works - neither depends on light levels - or mirror film if the privacy is mainly needed during the day. Against glare in the eyes and heat on the road-facing panes, solar control film is the answer. Often both solutions are combined in the same house - one film on the lower windows, another on the upper ones.
No. Window film is thin and has virtually no effect on sound, so we do not promise it. Film works on what comes through the glass as light and heat, and on what can be seen through the glass. If it is the noise from the main road that bothers you, the solution lies in the window construction and the seals, not in film. That has to be said honestly before the job.

A typical flat or one house's set of windows is usually finished in a single day. We need clear access to the glass, about a metre wide - furniture by the window only needs shifting, not carrying out. There is no building work, the windows are not removed, and the film goes onto the existing glass. In shop or office premises the work can be scheduled outside opening hours so that visitors are not disturbed.
