Window tinting in Ķekava

A house beside the Via Baltica gets two problems at once - passing drivers looking in, and a low sun straight in your eyes. We solve both with a single film on the existing glass. Free measuring, prices from €25/m² including labour.

Film on the existing glass - no new windows, no building work

What we do is simple in principle and precise in execution: we apply film to glass already in place, solving a specific problem - too much solar heat, glare in your eyes and on your screen, strangers looking into the room, or the security of the glass itself. The windows aren't replaced, the frames aren't touched, no redecorating is needed. A typical detached house or a small commercial property is finished in a day.

We work exclusively with architectural glass - houses, flats, offices, shops, clinics and production spaces. In Ķekava that means two quite different types of customer in one town: a family in a newly built house with large glazed planes, and a company whose building stands along the main road with the office section at the front and production or storage behind. The solutions for each are different, so we don't choose a film without seeing the property.

In fifteen years we have completed more than 400 properties in Riga and Greater Riga. Ķekava municipality is part of our everyday call-out zone, so measuring and the quote here are free and we don't charge separately for the visit.

Living and working beside a main road is not the same as a quiet village

Ķekava is stretched out along the Riga–Bauska corridor, and that changes what people actually expect from film.

Two problems at once: being looked at, and glare

A house or a room whose windows face a heavily used road gets what quiet streets don't: a constant flow of people at eye level and strong, shifting light. Pedestrians on the pavement, drivers waiting in a queue, cars stopped at the junction - all those glances land directly in the ground-floor rooms and inside the spaces beside the road. So the curtains stay drawn all day, and the living room turns into a half-dark space.

The second, less often mentioned effect is glare off the road. Wet asphalt, pale surfaces and a low sun produce strong light arriving at a shallow angle, which in autumn and spring strikes the window exactly when you are working in the room or watching television. That light isn't hot, but it is a nuisance, and the answer is not a thicker curtain but a film that cuts the brightness while keeping the view.

The practical solution in both cases is usually either mirror film on the road side or a darker solar control film. If privacy is needed in the evening as well, with the lights on inside, the honest answer is frosted film - reflective films lose the effect after dark.

A new development or an older village house

In Ķekava two very different kinds of home stand side by side. The newer residential developments and detached housing areas have large glazed planes, sliding patio doors and south-facing living rooms where the temperature climbs quickly in summer. The planting in these areas is still young, so there is no shade from trees - the window takes the sun all day with nothing in the way. This is where heat rejection film is most often needed: it reduces the heat gain without taking away the light.

In the older, village-type housing the windows are usually smaller, divided and in a variety of frames - timber, older PVC, sometimes replaced one at a time over different years. That isn't a complication, but it does mean every pane has to be measured individually and the film cut on site. Old, sun-damaged film applied many years ago tends to be found in exactly these houses; we remove it from €8/m² before the new film goes on.

In apartment blocks we also consider the look of the façade. Film on a single window in a section stands out; if several neighbours agree together, the result looks consistent. It's a question worth settling with the building before ordering.

Roadside commercial buildings, production facilities and warehouses

Ķekava is not just a commuter town - there are manufacturing and food-industry sites, warehouses, logistics premises, retail units and the municipality's public institutions. A company building beside the road has different requirements from a private house. Where there is an office or a customer area with a glazed frontage, the main task is usually controlling sun and glare at the workstations, because a low sun must not be shining at the monitors. Where production is going on behind the glass, or stock is stored there, the task is the opposite - nothing inside should be visible from outside.

Ground-floor shopfronts and glazed entrance doors on a busy road are also a security question. Safety film doesn't make glass unbreakable, but it holds the shards together if the pane is struck - that delays entry and reduces the risk of injury. The thickness is chosen to suit the job: 4 mil from €25/m² for lighter protection, 8 mil from €35/m² and 12 mil from €41/m² where serious resistance is required.

For meeting rooms, staff areas and offices that need privacy without darkness, we use frosted film; a company logo or a printed band is often added to glass partitions and doors - that is quoted individually from the artwork. On production and warehouse sites we usually arrange to work outside shift hours or at weekends, because applying film needs clear access to the glass and a calm, dust-free environment.

If a site has many panes of the same size, the work goes quickly and the overall price per square metre works out better than in a house with ten different windows. We give the exact figure after the survey.

From enquiry to finished window

1. Your enquiry and a call within 5 minutes

Fill in the form with the address and a short description of the situation. We get in touch within 5 minutes during working hours, ask a few clarifying questions - which way the windows face, what the main nuisance is, how many panes - and agree a time to measure.

2. Free measuring in Ķekava

We come out, measure every pane, look at the frames and the access, bring samples along and hold them against your window in daylight. A sample at your own window tells you far more than a description in a catalogue.

3. A fixed price before the work

After measuring we prepare a quote in which the price covers both the film and the labour. Prices are excl. VAT, with a €75 minimum order. The price is fixed before the work starts - it doesn't change once the film is on.

4. Installation, usually in a day

We arrive at the agreed time, clean the glass, cut the film on site and apply it. Afterwards we put the furniture back and take the offcuts away. The film needs a few days to dry completely - don't wash the windows during that time, and slight water marks may appear, which disappear on their own.

Ķekava and the surrounding area

We have no office or workshop in Ķekava - every visit is made from Riga, and the fitter arrives with the film, the tools and the samples. The distance is short, so Ķekava municipality is part of our everyday routes and no call-out fee applies.

As well as the town of Ķekava we travel to Baloži, Katlakalns, Valdlauči, Rāmava and the villages along the main road, and to Baldone and further south towards Iecava, as far as the property falls within a 50 km radius of Riga. If you're not sure whether your address is included, put it in the form and we'll tell you straight away.

The whole service area, with the list of towns, is set out on the service area page. If a property is in Riga but the work is planned alongside one in Ķekava, we can combine both into a single route.

Questions about working in Ķekava

We travel throughout the municipality. Ķekava, Baloži, Katlakalns, Valdlauči, Rāmava, Baldone and the villages along the A7 are all part of our usual call-out zone, as the whole municipality falls within a 50 km radius of Riga. We have no office or branch in Ķekava - the fitter drives out from Riga with all the material and tools. There is no need to return to the property, because we cut the film on site to the actual size of the glass.

Yes, and it is one of the most common jobs along the Riga–Bauska corridor. For daytime privacy, mirror film or a darker solar control film works - from the road side the window becomes reflective, while the view from inside is kept. There is one limitation to be aware of: in the evening, with the lights on inside and darkness outside, the effect reverses and the window becomes see-through again. If you need privacy in the evening too, without curtains, the right choice is frosted or blackout film.

We do. On commercial premises in Ķekava the most common jobs are solar protection for the windows of the office section, frosted film for meeting rooms and staff areas, blackout film wherever internal operations must not be visible from the road, and safety film for ground-floor glazing and doors. On production and warehouse sites we usually arrange to work outside shift hours or at weekends, so as not to disrupt operations.

Ķekava is roughly 15–20 km from central Riga along the main corridor, so the drive is usually short. At the morning and evening peaks, and during roadworks, this stretch tends to come to a standstill, so we prefer to schedule measuring and installation for the middle of the day. If an early morning or late afternoon suits you better, we set off accordingly - we agree the time by phone.

Yes, and it is often the smart way to do it. If neighbours in a new development order at the same time, or a company has several buildings in the municipality, we plan one route and do the jobs in sequence. We prepare a separate quote for each property, but a combined trip gets the work done faster and in a single day. Just say in your enquiry that several addresses are involved.

Prices start from €25/m², and that includes both the film and the labour. Prices are excl. VAT, with a €75 minimum order. Measuring and the quote in Ķekava are free, and we don't charge separately for the call-out - the municipality falls within our 50 km service radius. The final figure depends on the size and number of panes, the film chosen and access, so we give an exact price after measuring on site.
