What we do is simple in principle and precise in execution: a thin film is applied to the inside face of your existing glass, changing how much solar heat, light and ultraviolet radiation reaches the room, how visible the interior is from outside, and how the glass behaves if it is broken. The windows do not come out, we do not touch the frames, and there is no rubble. On most jobs everything is finished in a single visit.
In Olaine we typically have two very different types of customer in one town. On one side is the residential half - Soviet-era system-built apartment blocks and streets of detached houses, where the issue is an overheating flat, sun on the monitor and neighbours looking in on the ground floor. On the other side are workplaces: production and warehouse buildings, laboratory and technical rooms, offices attached to factories. There the questions are different - glass safety where people work, glare on screens and instruments, heat under large expanses of glazing, and privacy for ground-floor office windows facing the site road.

Olaine is a planned town in which production zones and residential blocks sit right next to each other. That changes what the film has to achieve.
In workplaces the glass is often large - side clerestory bands in workshops, glazed partitions between the production floor and the corridor, tall window sections in the office wing. On surfaces like these the most frequent request is safety film. It does not stop the glass cracking, but it holds the fragments together, so an impact or a knock leaves retained glazing rather than a shower of sharp shards. Where pallets, trolleys or machinery are moved past the glass, that is a practical consideration rather than a theoretical one.
The second recurring theme is heat. In a production hall or a warehouse office wing with extensive south or west-facing glazing, summer temperatures climb quickly and ventilation struggles to level them out. Solar control film or heat rejection film cuts a significant share of that heat gain before it ever enters the room.
The third is glare. If a workstation has a screen, an instrument display or a control panel, direct sun or a bright reflection makes the readings hard to see. Here a lighter solar control film works better than a dark one: it takes the edge off the brightness without removing the light people need to work by.
The residential half is dominated by Soviet-era system-built blocks with relatively small but numerous windows and thin external wall panels. In buildings like these the upper floors warm up quickly in summer and cool down slowly in the evening. The standard solution is solar control film on the living-room and bedroom windows on the side that catches the afternoon sun - often two or three windows are enough, rather than the whole flat.
Ground-floor flats are a story of their own. They sit right beside the courtyard paths and parking bays, where people walk past all day long. If privacy is needed in the evening too, when the lights are on inside, the right choice is frosted film or blackout film, because neither depends on the light levels. Mirror film gives daytime privacy and reflects part of the heat, but after dark the effect reverses - we always explain that before an order is placed.
In detached and terraced houses the most common jobs are glazed conservatories and large living-room windows that overheat in summer, along with UV protection for furniture, parquet and fabrics that fade over the years. In newer houses with extensive glazing, the heat question is usually more pronounced than in older ones.

3. Free measuring. We drive out to Olaine, measure the glass and look at the orientation of the windows and the access. We usually bring samples and hold them up against your own window - seeing the tint in place is far more useful than choosing from a description.

5. Fitting. Most jobs are finished in a single day. Before the film goes on, the glass is cleaned meticulously, because any speck of dust trapped underneath stays visible. We leave the room tidy when we are done.
6. The first few days. Freshly fitted film can look slightly hazy from residual moisture - that dries out naturally and the glass becomes clear. If there is old, yellowed film on the windows, we remove it separately, from €8/m².

Olaine lies south-west of Riga on the A8 and the Riga–Jelgava railway line, so the drive out from Riga is straightforward and predictable. The only thing that really changes the timing is the morning and evening peak in that direction. If the site is an office or a factory with set working hours, we usually plan to arrive outside the rush so the survey does not start with us running late.
On industrial sites, access tends to be organised rather differently from residential properties - passes, signing in with security, a safety briefing, specific rules about where you may drive and when you may be on the production floor. None of that is an obstacle for us, but we do need to know about it in advance, so it is worth mentioning in your enquiry. If the work has to be done between shifts, early in the morning or at a weekend, we plan around your schedule.
In residential blocks the practical questions are different: whether there is somewhere in the courtyard to unload materials briefly, which floor you are on and whether the building has a lift. Higher floors do not change the price in themselves, but they do affect planning if the windows are large and the film has to be carried up in full rolls.
The area around Olaine includes extensive forest and bog. In practice that means conditions can vary enormously even within one town: one house stands in the open with no shade at all, while another sits behind trees and only catches part of the afternoon sun. That is why we choose the strength of the film for the specific window rather than on a general assumption about the town.
The condition of the glass matters too. In older frames the glass often has scratches, aged silicone or a residual adhesive layer from a previous film. We check all of that during the survey, because it is the preparation that determines how clean the finished result looks. If the glass is already cracked, we will not apply film to it - and we say so honestly.
We do not put work off in winter. The film is applied from inside the room, so the outdoor temperature is not an obstacle in itself - all that matters is a normal working temperature indoors. In summer, demand for solar film is higher, so during the warm season it is worth booking your visit further ahead.

We do not have an office in Olaine - we travel out from Riga, and Olaine and its municipality fall well within our 50 km operating radius. We often cover several properties in one direction on a single trip, so if there is also an enquiry for a neighbouring house or another building belonging to the same company, it is worth mentioning at the outset.
In that same south-westerly direction we also work in Mārupe, which is mostly newer detached houses, terraced housing and logistics sites, in Baloži with its mix of apartment blocks and detached houses in wooded surroundings, and in Jelgava along the A8. A typical two or three-room flat with standard-sized windows is usually finished in a single day, often within a few hours. The time depends more on the number of panes and how clear the access to each window is than on the total area. After measuring we give you both the price and a realistic timeframe.
Solar control film and heat rejection film significantly reduce the amount of solar heat passing through the glass into the room, which is why they are so often used where cooling alone cannot cope. The effect is most noticeable on large south and west-facing glazing. During the survey we look at the orientation of the windows and recommend a film that delivers a meaningful reduction in heat without making the space too dark to work in.
Safety film holds the fragments together if the glass is broken, so instead of sharp shards falling out you are left with cracked but retained glazing. That matters in places where people work close to the glass or where goods and equipment are moved past it. We offer 4 mil film from €25/m², 8 mil from €35/m² and 12 mil from €41/m² - we choose the thickness based on the size of the pane and what actually goes on in the room.
