We apply window film to buildings - flats, private houses, offices, shops and working premises. The film goes onto the existing glass from inside the room, so the windows aren't replaced, no building work is started and the façade isn't touched. An average flat, or a group of rooms in a small workshop, is usually finished in a day.
Vangaži is a town in Ropaži municipality in the A2 corridor to the north-east of Riga, and it falls within our 50 km service radius. We have no office or workshop in Vangaži - we drive out from Riga with all the materials and tools with us. No call-out charge is added.

In Vangaži three fairly different types of property come together in one small area, and for each of them the glass creates a problem of its own.
Standard-design housing stock with comparatively small windows but no external shade. In south- and west-facing flats the room warms up on a summer afternoon and doesn't cool down again until evening. In ground-floor flats the second problem is a footpath running right past the window.
In private houses you more often find larger glazed sections in the living room and glazed terraces. The surroundings are wooded, but the shade of the trees is never where you need it - on newer plots, or on the south side, it simply doesn't reach the window.
In the areas of industrial heritage there are blocks with extensive glazing and shopfront walls. In summer they heat up the working area, while the low sun throws reflections onto equipment control screens and workbenches.
The typical situation in a block of flats is this: the flat faces south or west, on a top floor, and in July the room becomes unusable after midday. Curtains only help in part, because the heat has already passed through the glass and stays in the room. What works here is solar control film or heat rejection film - they reflect and absorb part of the solar heat before it reaches the room, and the daylight remains.
On the ground floors the task is different. When the window sits a metre above a footpath, the curtains stay permanently drawn during the day and the room is dark all year round. Frosted film lets the light through but removes the view - it suits kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms. Mirror film keeps the view out, but works only during the day; in the evening, with the lights on indoors, the effect reverses and curtains are needed for privacy.
If several windows in one section of a block are involved, we recommend using the same film on all of them. The façade then looks even rather than patchy.
The industrial heritage of Vangaži means the town also has working premises - service centres, repair workshops, smaller production plants and warehouse offices. There the usual problem isn't aesthetics but working conditions: an overheated space beside a glass wall, bright reflections on displays, and goods or materials that fade by the window. The practical solution is usually reflective or solar control film on the glazing on the sunny side, and UV protection film where materials are stored by the window.
The other frequent requirement on such properties is the resilience of the glass. Safety film holds the shards of broken glass together, and that matters where work is going on or equipment stands beneath the window. In the office parts and reception areas a frosted band or a logo on a glass partition is often added.
Work in a production space is planned separately. Application is done from the inside, so only the area by the window concerned has to be cleared for a while - we usually agree a sequence room by room, or work outside the shift.
Properties facing the trunk road have one more nuance: in the evenings and in winter the low sun comes straight into the window, and the lights on the road shine into the room after dark. Film doesn't solve the noise problem, but a darker solar control film noticeably reduces the brightness and reflections indoors. It is usually fitted only to the side of the façade that looks onto the road, not to the whole house.

Vangaži sits beside the A2, and that is the easiest part of the whole journey. In practice the timing is affected more by the morning and evening peak on the way out of Riga, so we usually schedule measuring in Vangaži for the middle of the day. If there is another property in the same direction - in Inčukalns or towards Sigulda - we combine them into one trip.
In blocks of flats it helps to tell us the floor and whether there is a lift in advance. Rolls of material are long, and stairwells with tight turns change how we plan to carry them up. Driving up to the entrance is rarely a problem, but if there are restrictions or a barrier in the courtyard, it is worth mentioning during the call.
On production and workshop sites the most important things are the pass procedure and when the space will be available. If the site has a security regime or registration at the entrance, tell us beforehand so that the team isn't left standing at the gate.
Seasonality: most enquiries about heat come in May and June, once the first hot days have been and gone. Technically the film can be fitted all year round, because the work happens indoors, so in winter the queues are shorter and the timing can be chosen more freely.
If the glass already carries old, yellowed or bubbling film, we take it off separately - from €8/m². Removing old adhesive takes time, so we always assess it during the measuring visit.

In none of these places do we have an office or a branch - every job is carried out on a call-out from Riga. In practice that means only one thing: we agree the measuring time in advance rather than offering to drop in without an enquiry.
