Your shopfront is the biggest sign you have

A passer-by decides whether to come in within a few seconds and from several metres away. Your window graphics determine what they learn in those seconds.

Two very different jobs

It is worth splitting shopfront graphics into two parts, because they have different lifespans and different requirements.

Permanent branding is what stays on the glass for years: the company name, logo, opening hours, street number and directions to the entrance. It is made from durable material and positioned carefully, because it does not get changed often. Opening hours usually go on the door glass or at the edge of the window at eye level, where people can read them close up.

Promotional and seasonal graphics live for a few weeks or months. They are bigger, bolder and meant to be read from the pavement or from the other side of the street. Here two questions matter: how quickly they can go up and how easily they come off.

In practice most shops need both. We install the permanent part once and change the promotional graphics as required.

Printed promotional graphics on a shop window in Riga

How much of the glass to cover

The most common mistake is covering the window completely. If there is a proper window display behind the glass, or the shop itself is visible, that works in your favour - people want to see where they are going.

So in most cases we opt for partial coverage: graphics at the top or the bottom of the window, in side bands or as individual elements, leaving a clear view of the merchandise. Full coverage is used where a stockroom, refurbishment work or a space you would rather not show sits behind the glass.

Printed, cut and perforated graphics

The material is chosen according to what has to appear on the window and how long it needs to last.

Cut vinyl

Text, logos and simple shapes cut from coloured film. Only the mark itself stays on the glass, with no background. A clean, professional look - perfect for opening hours, the shop name and contact details.

Full-colour printing

Photographs, gradients and elaborate promotional designs. We print onto clear or white film and cut to the outline. The only option if the graphic contains an image or plenty of colour transitions.

Perforated film

Film with tiny holes: a complete graphic from the street, a view out and daylight from inside. Designed for large shopfronts you want to cover fully without making the interior dark.

Perforated one-way vision film in more detail

This film comes into its own on large shopfronts. It is a material with a regular grid of tiny holes. From outside, where it is brighter, the eye picks up the printed surface and sees a complete image. From inside, the eye looks straight through the holes, so the view of the street is retained.

In practice that means you can use the whole shopfront as advertising space without taking daylight away from your staff or turning the shop into a windowless box.

  • Full-size graphics on large shopfronts
  • The view out and the daylight are retained from inside
  • The effect is weaker after dark, when the lights are on inside
  • Normally applied outside, so we choose material rated for exterior use

Seasonal graphics that leave no trace

Promotional graphics usually go on the outside, because they are brighter and more visible that way. Seasonal decals that stay on the glass for a few months come off fairly easily - we lift the film off whole or in large pieces and clean away the adhesive residue.

The picture changes if graphics have been on a shopfront for several years. Sun and frost make the material brittle, it starts tearing into pieces and the adhesive bakes onto the glass. Removal then becomes a job in its own right, which we describe in more detail on our page about old film removal - priced from €8/m².

One practical tip: if you plan to change the graphics every season, tell us at the quoting stage. We will then choose a material intended for a shorter life that comes off more easily.

We work while the shop is closed

Storefront graphics mean working right where your customers come in. That is why we do most of the work before you open in the morning or after you close in the evening.

We agree the schedule in advance. In shopping centres we also work around the centre's own rules on installation hours. For most shopfronts the application itself takes a few hours, so one early morning session is usually enough.

What shopfronts often need alongside

A shopfront is where several different requirements meet. If the window faces south or west, merchandise in a sunlit display fades over time - fabrics, packaging and wooden goods go first. UV protection film from €25/m² takes care of that; it is virtually clear and has no effect on your graphics.

If the shopfront makes the shop too hot in summer, the same glass can take solar control film. Large glass areas facing the pavement are also often given safety film, which holds the shards together if the glass is broken.

We cover the permanent branding side - logos and names - in more detail on our page about logos on glass.

Price and service area

For storefront graphics we provide an individual quote. The price is driven by the area of the graphics, the type of material, whether full-colour printing is needed and how many separate panes there are. Perforated film covering an entire shopfront prices very differently from cut vinyl opening hours on a door. The price includes materials and labour, prices are excl. VAT, and the minimum order is €75.

You will find our other prices on the prices page. We work throughout Riga and a 50 km radius - including Jūrmala, Ogre, Salaspils and Mārupe.

Storefront graphics - questions and answers

For storefront graphics we provide an individual quote, because the price depends on the area of the graphics, the type of material, whether full-colour printing is needed and how many separate panes have to be covered. Cut vinyl opening hours on a door pane cost considerably less than perforated film covering an entire shopfront. The price includes materials and labour. Prices excl. VAT, minimum order €75.

In most cases it is not worth it. If there is a window display behind the glass, or the shop itself is visible, that draws customers in, so we usually go for partial coverage - graphics along the top, the bottom or the side bands of the window, leaving a clear view of the merchandise. Full coverage is used where a stockroom, an office or refurbishment work sits behind the glass. If you want full-size graphics without losing daylight, perforated film is the answer.

It is film with a regular grid of tiny holes. From outside, where it is brighter, a complete printed graphic is visible; from inside the room the eye looks straight through the holes, so the view of the street and the daylight are retained. It is used on large shopfronts that you want to use as advertising space without turning the interior dark. After dark, with the lights on inside, the effect is weaker.

Graphics that have been on the glass for a few months usually come off fairly easily - we lift the film off whole or in large pieces and clean away the adhesive residue. Graphics left in place for several years are harder work: sunlight makes the material brittle, it tears into small pieces and the adhesive bakes on. If you plan to change the graphics every season, tell us when we quote and we will choose a material suited to that.

Yes, and in most cases that is exactly what we do. Storefront graphics mean working right where customers come in, so we schedule the job early in the morning before opening or in the evening after closing. In shopping centres we also work around the centre's own rules on installation hours. For most shopfronts the job takes a few hours.

Promotional graphics are usually applied on the outside, because they are brighter and easier to read from the street that way. Perforated film also goes on the outside. Permanent branding - the name, opening hours and logo - can often go on the inside, where the material is protected from the weather and lasts longer. We decide based on the type of glass and how bold the graphics need to be.
